The brief
Cork & Chroma is Australia’s first ‘paint and sip’ studio – a
place where anyone, no matter how artistic they are, can produce a
painting that they’ll be of, while also enjoying a social night out.
The
concept is very popular in the US however the branding for similar
ventures there is very predictable. Owners of Cork & Chroma Ben
& Hillary Wall asked us to create a brand with a point of
difference, an ‘urban shabby’ feel and bucket loads of inherent
coolness.
Our creative process
The client felt drawn to retro style graphics so we firstly researched different visual and typographic resource material for their feedback before coming up with initial concepts for further exploration.
The bold original logotype that was developed works beautifully with the unstructured use of colour and the earthy background paper textures. We’ve had great fun applying it to stationery, a website, posters and shopfront signage.
Words from the client
“Kingfisher Creative’s level of customer service is impeccable. They are interested in more than just sending you over a design to approve or not. They work with you to understand exactly what the vision is, and then heighten that vision. When I was unsure about a design decision, or how something on the website should run, I could ask “What do you think?” and would get an honest, objective answer. But at the end of the day, I also had complete freedom to develop everything the way that I wanted.”
